The Fort Worth Linux Users Group (FWLUG)

June Meeting

At the June meeting we had a very limited, rudimentary ICS demonstration, (ICS - Internet Connection Sharing). We attempted to use a laptop to receive an internet connection via it's WiFi interface and share it over the ethernet port to another laptop.  (The original intention was to share it with a wireless router and open  new wireless access point  - turns out the wireless router was not functional, so that part was a flop.) We did however, accomplish the simple goal of IP forwarding.

Our normal meetings are held on the Second Saturday of each month.

Next meeting, July 8, 2017

Come early for breakfast, meeting Starts at 10am.  (Breakfast served 8AM - 10AM)

At the July meeting we will revisit Internet Connection Sharing but we will add the use of a dhcp server and a caching name-server.  In other words, we will demonstrate complete router functionality on a PC or from one PC to another or to another group of PCs.  To demonstrate the ability to share with a "group of PCs" we will configure a WiFi router to act as a WiFi switch.
This demonstration should not take very long so we will follow with general Q&A.
