LAN based video conference software. OS, any.

I have looked and not found anything strictly IP/LAN based. Free preferably.

Any ideas? Anyone?

You can try alternativeto it's a website that lists alternatives to other apps...

http://alternativeto.net/searchresult.aspx?search=voip

that's the search for VOIP

I remember seeing something years ago but not now...although Mumble and Murmur (the server) are used for gaming it is a VOIP server and client that can be run on the LAN...and it's open source.

Thanks...

Looking through the site. but Man! Whats the deal. I find tons of people that are looking for internally based video conferencing. But no software.

I want something that can use the internal 100 Mbit and not worry about throttling down to 512K up or something to that effect.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ekiga ... %20a%20LAN

That link has a couple of options for running ekiga (formerly gnomemeeting) on the LAN. You probably already have avahi so it might "Just Work"

Big Blue Button is an awesome program you should look at. Totally free. Here at WISD I even connected it to our Asterisk phone system so you can have call in participation if needed.

Many thanks Tracy.

Reading up on it. I hope it is free and doesn't need to go to the web for any reason.
