Why does Firefox using Ubuntu 8.04 issue a warning when attempting to enter the Scientific Linux site?. It says its certificate is invalid or not trusted?
thanks in advance

Most likely, it doesn't chain up to a trusted root certificate. It appears valid for the web site and that's about it. However, certificates are not my strong point. :)

Whats the website?

FF 3 has change the way it handles invalid certificates, requiring several clicks to access a site where the cert doesn't "validate"

Invalidations can be cased by multiple things, in my experience, the common 3 (possibly in order):

Mis-matched CN or DNS
Untrusted root CA
Out of date

BTW, I googled the site, and looked at the cert, in this case they are using a self signed cert (common amongst most OSS sites). This is why it is failing, because your system doesn't trust the CA.
