Ethernet Extenders

Postby Randy » Fri Aug 01, 2008 8:41 am

Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, using Ethernet extenders? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I used them when I was in college to try and "borrow" the faster internet connection from our computer center, worked find for me then, but I was only using 10Mbps max. so I don't know how they work performance wise, I would imgagine if you had a extender every 3 meters for 100 meteres, you would have problems. But justing using one woudln't be an issue, no different the using patch panels

I have had no problems using extenders, however, I have never used more then one and was never bandwidth intensive on them.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

I would be plenty happy with 10Mbps. This is mainly to get Ethernet to one of our trailers outside the main building.

Using an extender looked like it would save me some time and having to make a fiber-optic run from here to there.

Thanks, again!
