Fedora 9 will be released today. It's like Christmas without all the relatives.

Network Manager sees cell modem cards without any tweaking. I have only tried this with an AT&T wireless aircard. It took longer to get it out of the case than to connect to the internet. AWESOME!..... so far. 8)

I will get more details this weekend, when I install it for myself. We just had a short time to look at it at the LTLUG, so the Network Manager was all we had time for.... and think finger. 8)

As I found out, last night, the nVidia drivers do not fully work with Fedora 9. The 2D portion of their driver works, but there is no 3D hardware-accelerated video support. You have to downgrade the Xorg server to a previous version and start X with the -ignoreABI if you want this to work in Fedora 9.

If you need to have 3D support, you might want hold off on upgrading to Fedora 9 if you're using an nVidia graphics adapter.

That does bring up a good question, though: Do the ATI graphics adapters work with this release?

Thumbs down to Fedora!

The 2 D desktop has been fine for years in any Linux distro.

How disappointing.
